I hate it when people use the phrase "it is what it is". They're just simply trying to justify being lazy, or not wanting to change. Yes, we're all aware of the law of identity, and that something is always itself.
However, that doesn't mean that something is immutable. That doesn't mean you can't change the situation. It just means you don't want to. It's some existentialist BS where you're trying to prove you're helpless and not responsible, when you're not and you are.
Even worse, using it to refer to statistics or some fact that you don't like, to try to passive aggressive them into changing. Unfortunately, you can't go Jewish-mom on sales numbers. "Welp, I guess the total is what it is. You sell that little and then don't even call on your manager's birthday".
Well yes, it is what it is. In other news, my car is equal to my car, a donkey is equal to a donkey, and my patience equals wearing thin.
